What is your favorite thing about being a student at UIS? Being at a small school like UIS has given me a lot of opportunities to work closely with professors while I have been here. It has helped me develop a lot as a student and has opened up some unique opportunities for research and leadership. Small schools have benefits and drawbacks, but the contact with professors I have had has been quite helpful.
What are your goals for the semester? As a senior, I want to make sure I balance school and social life well. On one hand I want to complete this semester with the grades I should get, but I also want to make sure I am enjoying my final months here with my friends. That kind of balance can be tough, but it is important.
If there were a reality TV show of your life, what would it be called? Why? Something like “Conor’s Content.” Have to like alliterative titles. Also I think about it as a musician, trying to always put out content but also trying to stay content.
Are you involved in any clubs/activities/sports on campus? Or what are your hobbies? I am the Head Delegate of Model Illinois Government, an organization where we debate political issues and prepare for a simulation at the capital building with all the other MIG delegations from around the state. I am also the Vice President of the Rotaract Club, a community service student organization. Outside of school I am a musician and am the drummer for a band.
What have you learned since working at the library? Perhaps the single biggest thing I have learned since working at the library is how many services the library provides. People often think of it as just a place to check out books and do research, but it does a lot more. Learning about all the services we provide has been interesting.
What are your post-graduation plans? After graduation I am likely going to move to Chicago and try to work a political job of some kind. Maybe with an interest group, the city, or a state representative. After a year or so I hope to go to graduate’s school, although I am not yet sure for what kind of degree.
What is your favorite thing from the library of things collection?: Settlers of Catan would be my favorite thing, even though I have never actually checked it out before. That is a good, but rather expensive game. I am glad we have it for people to play for free.
