Online library resources, including databases and eBooks, are accessible through the library’s website 24/7. Search our catalog to find and request books from UIS or other I-Share libraries. Visit our research guides to find recommended databases and online resources to help you get started on your research.
With the semester ending, the library will be switching to winter break hours.
Monday, December 14 – Friday, December 18 During this week, library building services will include Grab-and-Go only from 12pm-4pm Monday through Friday. If you need to print or use a computer, please visit the UHB 200 computer lab.
After Friday, December 18 After December 18, the library building, Grab-and-Go, I-Share and InterLibrary Loan services will be closed through the end of the year. During this time, online assistance will still be available. Visit our website for chat assistance, or check our FAQ page for often asked questions. And as always, library databases are available 24/7.
We anticipate that I-Share and InterLibrary Loan request services will begin on January 11th and Grab-and-Go services will start again on January 13th. These plans are subject to change due to delivery services and public health and university guidelines.
For the most up to date info on building and service hours, visit our Library Hours page.
Starting Sunday, September 27th, we will be launching new library hours. As the weather shifts, we will be removing our outdoor Grab-and-Go table and moving that service inside. We are also extending our Study Hours hours and have added group study tables and remote meeting rooms.
New Hours: Sundays: 2-8pm Mondays – Thursdays: Noon-10pm Fridays: Noon-4pm
During these times, the doors on the quad side of the building will be unlocked. You can come in to the library to study, check out materials, browse the stacks, and print/scan.
Booking a Seat We are still recommending that you book a seat in advance for Study Hours to speed up the check in process. Visit our booking instructions page for assistance. This step is recommended, but not required.
Group Study Tables We have made 6 group study tables available on the main floor of the library. There are 4 tables that accommodate 2 people, and 2 tables that accommodate 4 people.
Remote Meeting Rooms Struggling to participate in your remote classes with your roommates walking around in the background? Or do you need a space to have a remote meeting with a counselor or advisor? We have 3 small rooms available during operating hours that are great for these purposes. These rooms include a table and chair and allow you to close the door and have a dedicated space for engaging in class or having a online meeting with less distraction. Book a Remote Meeting Room now.
To learn more about library services and to find additional places on campus to study, print/scan, or join a remote class or meeting, visit our What to Expect at the Library guide.
Brookens Library is holding open office hours via Zoom for faculty and staff to drop-in with any questions regarding the changes to the new catalog, I-Share, course reserves, or finding OER materials. Open office hours take place Mondays – Fridays from 11:00 AM – noon from August 3 – August 28.
Request materials using the library catalog. We have a new search box and catalog; this video will show you how to request materials in the new system.
2. Wait until you receive an email that says your items are available.
3. Pop on your mask and come to the library’s main entrance on the quad side of the building during the next available pick-up time that works in your schedule.
4. Look for the library staff member and hold your i-card up to the glass window. We’ll grab your items, check them out to your account, and pass them through the door.
Staff will be handling all library materials while wearing masks. Please do not attempt to disinfect materials by spraying or wiping them with cleaning solutions or through any other means. We recommend simply quarantining the items for 72 hours. For additional information about library materials and COVID-19 transmission, we recommend the findings from the REALM Project.
Questions about your library account or materials requests can be sent to email@example.com.
