Name: Michelle

Major: Public History

Status: Graduate

What is your favorite thing about being a student at UIS?

It is nice being on a small campus. This gives students the opportunity to work closer with their professors and ask more questions if need be. This also allows for the students to more easily interact with one another.

What are your goals for the semester?

To cut my caffeine intake down to one cup of coffee or tea a day and keep it there. To also make more time this semester to go to the gym and work out more.

If there were a reality TV show of your life, what would it be called? Why?

It would probably be called something along the lines of Busy Bee. This would be due to the fact that I am always buys and constantly moving. For if I am not at work or school then often times I am off trying to see family or friends.

Are you involved in any clubs/activities/sports on campus? Or what are your hobbies?

Outside of school I like to go biking, camp, read, and cook. Being a history major I do a lot of reading but when I’m not reading for class I have my own books that I like to read. I tend do do a lot of cooking and baking at home even if my baking does not always look as awesome as the pictures.

What have you learned since working at the library?

I have learned better research skills and also how to teach those skills to other students that need them. This helped me be able to help other students that are stuck on where to start in there papers.

What are your post-graduation plans?

To find a good paying job in my field. Jobs that I am interested in are either working in an archive, a library or a museum. I am also hoping to get another Master’s degree in library science once I am finished with my Master’s in Public History.
